Accenture caps Claude at $29 per employee per month: what it means for AI coding costs

What was reported

404 Media (Oct 15, 2026) reported an internal Accenture announcement, “Claude Enterprise Users: Important Updates to Licensing and Usage Costs”.
Effective October 1, Accenture centrally funds only $29 per person per month toward Claude usage.
The memo says “all costs are consumption-based”. Usage above $29 must be funded by a specific project or team (a Work Breakdown Structure, or WBS code).
Premium plans come with $250 of token usage per week; many employees are not on Premium.
Some employees reported monthly usage of roughly $500 to $1,000, largely from Claude Code. The memo says licences are reviewed periodically and access isn't guaranteed.
An Accenture spokesperson told 404 Media the company makes AI available to all its people and continues to invest in AI capabilities.

This is based on press reports of an internal memo; we haven't seen the memo ourselves. TechRadar describes the $29 as a soft limit rather than an absolute cap.
